Who handles your information

Ortho is an independent project based in South Korea. Ortho is the contact responsible for the personal information described here. For privacy questions or requests, email hey@ortho.so.

Posture data stays on your Mac

Posture analysis works offline. Camera frames and compatible AirPods head-motion readings are processed on your Mac, and posture data is not uploaded. Camera frames and temporary pose geometry are discarded after processing, not saved as photos, video, or pose landmarks. AirPods tracking does not access the microphone or record audio.

On supported MacBooks, device tilt and hinge-angle readings provide context about the laptop’s position. They are not separate measurements of your posture.

Ortho stores calibration and preferences locally and separately. Calibration summarizes your working position, usual movement, and the inputs used; preferences contain your settings. Ortho does not save raw sensor samples, numerical session recordings, or a posture score. The app does not upload analytics, telemetry, or crash reports.

Signup and support information

The website collects your email address to manage your beta request and contact you about access. Before providing access, we ask you by email to confirm eligibility and accept the beta terms. The website does not collect your birthday or identification documents.

The website does not subscribe you to product news or offers. Any marketing subscription requires a separate, optional choice during the email follow-up. Declining marketing does not affect eligibility for the beta.

If you contact support, we receive your email address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond and resolve your request. Please do not send camera recordings or sensitive health information.

Website hosting and analytics

Cloudflare serves this website and processes request information, including IP addresses, for delivery and security. Cloudflare Web Analytics reports aggregate page visits and performance, including referrer, country, browser, and device type. These reports are separate from the beta email list.

Cloudflare states that Web Analytics uses no cookies or client-side state and does not fingerprint individual visitors. We do not add advertising cookies or sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

Service providers and international processing

Loops, operated by Astrodon Corporation, manages the beta email list and email delivery. Cloudflare, Inc. provides website hosting and analytics. These providers may process information outside South Korea. Support email sent to hey@ortho.so is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to Gmail, provided by Google. Cloudflare processes messages for forwarding; Google stores and processes the sender address, message contents, and any attachments in our support mailbox. Their information is available in the Loops Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Privacy Policy, and Google Privacy Policy. Google states that information may be processed on servers around the world, outside your country.

Email choices and tracking

Beta communications concern access and participation. Product news and offers go only to people who separately opt in. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe or preference link. Essential replies to a request, such as a privacy-request response, may not include one.

Email open and link-click tracking is enabled in our Loops account. For campaign and workflow emails, Loops records these interactions to report email engagement. Its transactional emails do not track opens or clicks by default. Email engagement information is separate from this website’s cookieless analytics.

Unsubscribing stops the relevant emails but does not necessarily delete your contact record. We may retain minimal suppression information to avoid emailing you again. We do not use essential service messages to send product promotions.

How long information is kept

Beta-list records are deleted within 90 days after the beta ends. Support correspondence is deleted within 12 months after the request is resolved. Separately consented marketing records are kept until you withdraw consent or the marketing program ends. Minimal opt-out records are retained only while needed to honor your choice during our email operations.

If a specific law requires longer retention, we keep only the information required, restrict it to that purpose, and explain the applicable reason when responding to a deletion request. Electronic records are deleted from active systems and through provider deletion tools. Provider backups may expire on their separate schedules; we do not promise immediate erasure from every backup.

Your choices and rights

You can request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal information, or withdraw consent, by emailing hey@ortho.so. We may ask for limited information needed to confirm that a request concerns your records. We respond within applicable legal deadlines and explain any lawful exception.

Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. You can unsubscribe from optional marketing without ending beta participation. To withdraw your beta request, contact us.

You can also raise a concern with your local data protection authority. In South Korea, contact the KISA Privacy Infringement Report Center at 118 or the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee.

Removing local app data

We have no uploaded posture records to delete. Uninstalling Ortho alone can leave local data behind. Calibration is stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Ortho/; preferences are stored separately by macOS. Removing the calibration folder does not remove those preferences. Contact us for help removing remaining local data.

Age eligibility

The beta is for people aged 16 and over, with parent or guardian permission where legally required. We do not intentionally collect beta signups from children under 16. Contact us if you believe a child under 16 has submitted information so we can investigate and remove it.

Policy changes

We update the date above when this policy changes. We will notify affected participants before material changes take effect and seek new consent when required. We will not treat a policy update alone as permission to use existing records for a new purpose.
